Byrd’s Dogs

Jolene is the leader of the team. Without her, the team would not be the same. This little girl is strong, focused and very fast. Jolene is sister to Rupert, Clara and Daria and Lira.

Nickie is a leader and point dog (behind leader).Nickie was purchased from Michigan and has adapted well to Fairbanks. Nickie is sister to Miriam.

Miriam was purchased from Michigan with Nickie, She shows great promise as a lead dog, and is currently a point dog. Miriam is sister to Nickie.

Lira is a tiny dog with a big heart. She runs in the team and is very focused. She is sister to Rupert, Clara, and Jolene.

Katrina blossomed last season into a race leader. I am so proud of her. Katrina is spunky and sassy, and is sister to Rita and Frankie.

Rita is a team dog. She suffers a little from low self-confidence, so I have to remind her that she is doing great. Rita is sister to Frankie and Katrina.

Frankie is wheel dog, but also moonlights as a lead dog, He is strong, fast and very friendly. Frankie is very vocal and talks to me whenever I am around. Frankie is sister to Rita and Katrina.

Clara is a wheel dog. This is right in front of the sled. It is one of the toughest positions as great strangth is needed. Clara is very fast and strong. She is sister to Jolene, Rupert, Daria and Lira.

Rupert is a team dog. He is one of the big boys on the team. He has a very elegant gait and his strength offers a lot to the team. Rupert is brother to Jolene, Daria, Clara and Lira.

Daria is incredibly athletic. She is not a leader, yet, but her focus and speed make her one of the most important team members. Daria’s is sister to Jolene, Clara, Lira and Rupert.

Sparky is a new member of the team. He was purchased this summer from a top musher. I know he will fit into the team and do a great job. Sparky is a large boy.
